Kitchens and baths require fresh water, which is stored in special tanks – for cooking, dishwashing and of course for showers and wash basins. A special system of pressure vessel, pump and pipework distributes the water to the individual consumers. GL pressure switches (GL = Germanischer Lloyd certified) regulate the necessary working pressure and monitor the pressures in the pipes. Deviations from the preset values are signalled as a fault or alarm by the pressure switches. Moreover, they control the pumps that build up the necessary pressure.

Special requirements apply for the components used in shipbuilding and offshore installations. They must be approved by Germanischer Lloyd (now DNV). Mechanical engineering and plant construction companies that plan complex production lines to meet individual customer wishes and needs must take these special requirements into account.
